Internet Explorer 6: How and Why to Clear Your Cache:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie6/using/howto/customizing/clearcache.mspx
1. Clear your cache, accepting the option to delete all offline content.
2. Resize your cache (e.g., 50MB or lower).
3a. Move any messages that you want to keep out of Sent Items and Deleted
Items folders and into other local OE folders you've created for archiving
(saving) such messages.
3b. Move 99% of your messages in your Inbox folder to other local OE
folders, too.
4. Compact all OE folders:

General OE Caveats:
- Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local
folders created for this purpose.
- Empty Deleted Items folder daily.
- Frequently perform a manual compact of all OE folders while "working
offline". More at http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm
- Do not cancel Automatic Compacting, should it occur, and do not attempt to
close OE via Task Manager or shutdown your machine if Automatic Compacting
is taking place.
- Disable email scanning by your anti-virus application. It can cause
corruption (i.e., loss of messages) and provides no additional protection:

Post by dnamertzThe last couple days Outlook Express takes about two minutes to bring up
each individual new email. Before it would bring them all up in a matter
of
seconds, but now it says "receiving message 1" for about two minutes, then
when that email comes up it says "receiving message 2" for another two
minutes, etc, etc. It doesn't matter what size the email is. What could be
causing this?
