IE 7, 8 Beta really slow using SmarterMail

When I use IE 7 or IE 8 Beta to open webmail (our host uses SmarterMail) the
pages load extremely slowly. A blank page appears first as the browser status
displays done, then a while later the page is actually rendered. Link to
link, e.g. going from inbox to sent mail folder takes just as long. In
contrast Firefox 3.0.3 and Chrome load the pages almost instantly.

Any clues as to why this may be happening and what I can do to remedy this?

thanks for that, MS should list those newsgroups on their newsgroup home
page..

After manually uninstalling Norton Internet Security and reinstalling,
SmarterMail now runs normally in IE, although not as fast as FF and Chrome.
