My IE6.00.2900.5512 has, in the last week or so, begun sporadically
crashing. Same on a second computer in my home.

Both computers are up to date on Windows XP Home and IE updates.

The crashes occur when I load up IE6 by ctrl-clicking on several unrelated
web links. It only happens about once every few dozen times, but I use IE
enough that it's a headache.

When it happens, I get the message to report to MS, which I ignore. If I
repeat the failed operation, IE behaves normally.

Any ideas?

My mistake. Per Help | About I'm using IE7.0.5730.13. Same problem.
But I'm damned if I can figure how I got the IE6 version from help| About.

So use IE6 to do your web browsing instead of the overlay program that
adds tabs (e.g., Avantbrowser) and other features while using the IE
libraries to do the actual browsing. That 3rd party software is what is
f**king up. Just use IE6 which does *not* have tabbing, or move to IE7
that does have tabbing.
