I am using the latest version of Zone Alarm, 8.0 and Windows XP. Today
a problem came up whereby I could not access either Internet Explorer
or Firefox. I discovered the cause to be Zone Alarm. When I shut it
down, I was able to access the browser. Strangely enough, once having
accessed the browser, I could restart Zone Alarm and everything worked
normally.

The question he is trying to ask is what setting is causing this problem.

I know because I have a similar problem. I cannot install any new programs
when ZA is on and set.

What could be causing this problem? Is there any expert who has the answer?

Thanks for any help.

To both of you. Get RID of Zone Alarm. It will solve a multitude of your problems
and use the built in Windows Firewall. Much better than ZA and much more effective
if set up properly
