Discussion:
Office 2007 Documents
(too old to reply)

Environment: Windows Server 2003, SP2; IE 6, SP2; MS Office 2003 and
'Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office'

I'm using Internet Explorer 6, SP2 to access documents (created with MS
Office 2003) on a temporary share all right.

However, there is a problem when I try to access MS Office 2007 documents on
the same share (i.e. IE does not recognize them; thinks it is a zip file ...).
Note: I did install the 'Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office' and this
works fine with WINDOWS EXPLORER (i.e. Windows Explorer can read the MS
Office 2007 documents all right).

QUESTION: How to get the IS 6, SP2 (on WIndows Server 2003, with MS Office
2003) to read the MS Office 2007 documents (just like the Windows Explorer) ?

TIA

Compatibility Pack for Office 2007 is there already (and SP1).

Because of it,I can read the Office 2007 files with Windows Explorer all
right.

However, I can not read Office 2007 files with IE 6, SP2 ?

Note:With IE 6, SP2 I can read Office 2003 files without any problem.

Hi,
Workaround...
Go to Folder Options> File Types, select the file type (DOC, XLS, etc) Click
on Advanced and uncheck "Browse in same window." That should open the file
in the correct Office program, not IE6.

Hope this helps,
Don

Thanks Don, but this did not work.

My "Browse in same Window" was unchecked.

I tried this on another system with IE 7 and the problem is still there.

It looks like the 'Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office' does not work
from IE 6 or 7 !?

Any other idea / help is welcome.

Regards,

Sorry, that was my only idea.

You might try an Office newsgroup. I would try:
