Have XP, IE 6 and today created an administrator log in and also account for
my children that is restricted. Daughter last night was online late, and
erased her history, Cookies indicated nothing serious, but how do I prevent
them from erasing history? Do I need to upgrade to 7.0? is there a way to
password require a history erase? On childrens log in account IE security is
set as high, mine is medium. Would appreciate your adivce. Thanks.

I don't mean to be the north end of a southbound donkey, but.......

IMHO, you should let them clear the cookies, lest you end up with spyware
and malware. Erasing the TIF files, deleting the cookies, and erasing the
History _regularly_ is accepted as a pretty standard requirement for basic
personal PC maintenance, so speaking of spying... what did you expect to
see when you spied on her activities in the history folders? Are you even
certain that you're seeing the horrible mess that is actually retained in IE?

In any open system folder, from the toolbar select: tools | folder options | View

If you uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" you will get three
to four more previously hidden profiles which probably also need to be
completely cleaned out.

I don't recommend IE7, and I appreciate your interest in keeping your
daughter 'in line'.... but not at the sake of any actions taken outside
of setting up the best security possible and restricting access to
certain web sites or ratings prior to allowing the log-in. Clearing
ALL of the Internet generated files should be a matter of basic
maintenance and highly encouraged.

Hello,

There is a registry way to disable the clear history button.

Go to http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm, line 101, left column
"Prevent IE History Being Removed " and download/run the file while logged
in as your daughter.
