Help!!!! I was running Windows XP Home Edition with IE7 and keep getting "can
not display page" when accessing windows update or any windows support page
or any windows download page. I can get to any other webpage and also able to
download from other sites; ie, ZDnet for Ad-ware and Avira Anti-Virsus
software. I have since uninstalled IE7 and still get the same message in IE6.

Any help would be greatly appriecated.

Chances are that you're seeing the affects of a hijackware infection.

1. See if you can download/run the MSRT manually:
http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.mspx

2. Run this online scan (in safe mode w/networking, if need be):

3. Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting the requested
logs in an appropriate forum.

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.
