"Click" on every click

hallo

i'm with ie6 sp1 on w98

while surfing, almost on every clicked link,
i hear a sound, a sort of "click"

in Control panel / Sound i disabled all the items

in Browser/Tool/Otions/Advanced I uncheked all "Play sound", "Play
animation..." (i'm translating from Italian)

but this little "click" sound is still fired

how to silent/avoid/disable it?

In Control Panel> Sound> Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer) did you
set no sound for "Start Navigation?"

Is a third-party program making this sound when it blocks a cookie or allows
a cookie or performs some other act or check of the page? Check your
third-party security/privacy/antispyware programs to see of one of them is
making the sound.

i solved

for a full description of what i did, please see the previous post (two
days ago) called "Slower SPEED after Ie6 installation"

in short words, i deleted the whole Windows folder, replaced it with an
old folder i had (a folder that never was firing the "click"),
re-installed ie6 sp1, and the "click" was gone

what did cause that, i still don't know; just some guesses...
