Help With Auto Complete

Hello, All.

A buddy gave me a licensed copy of a program called Evidence Eliminator. He
said this proggie would scour my PC and rid it of unnecessary stuff that
found it's way into every nook and cranny of my hard drive.

It took nearly three hours to do it's thing but after EE was finished, my
PC did run a little better.

Problem is I configured EE to remove all the Auto Complete entries in
Internet Explorer 6. Now, after running EE the Auto Complete feature no
longer functions.

Now, when I type my user name and password into the text area when logging
on to a website, the Windows Auto Complete pop-up still appears and asks if
I want to save the typed text using the auto complete feature...yet when I
click yes, the typed text is no longer being saved.

I've clicked all the appropriate boxes in the Internet Options
AutoCompleteSettings field for IE6. Though when I clicked the "clear forms"
and "clear passwords" button in the AutoCompleteSettings field, the
function failed to perform and a "not responding" warning was displayed.

I even visited this Windows XP Home support page and when I followed the
instructions to a "T", Windows would not let me delete the registry keys
that it recommended I delete. <puzzled>

I'm thinking since the mechanism's for Auto Complete still pop-up and offer
to save my typed info, that perhaps EE deleted the file or folder where the
Auto Complete info is stored.

I've tried trouble shooting this problem on my own. After spending nearly
four hours looking for a fix, I realize I need the help of people who know
a lot more about PC's than I do.

That's why I've come to Usenet, hoping to run into a generous person who
may be familiar with the problem I am experiencing. Your help would be
greatly appreciated. :)

Please state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; Win2K SP4) when
posting to this newsgroup.

Does the behavior persist after uninstalling EE via Add/Remove Programs &
rebooting?

Do you have an available Restore Point which predates the install of EE?

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your
subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)?
What third-party firewall (if any)?

As far as I can tell Evidence Eliminator is a perfectly legit and reliable
product. I have no reason to believe their website would pose a risk
to anyone.

The solution to my OS problem has been online since May of 2003.
I guess it was just a matter of finding it. :)
