BONJOUR and
ST stmain.dll (which I can't identify)
That dropped the transit time from my home page to NYTIMES.COM to between
7
and 9 seconds.
I then removed all of the remaining add-ons and saw no further improvement
Thank you very much for your prompt response.
As you suggested I started IE7 no addons and timed the trip from my home
page to the NYTIMES.COM
26 seconds
FOXFIRE (your info on warnings taken seriously)
3 seconds...I almost could not time it with my stop watch.
I'll pursue your suggestions further and will look for any comments you
might have.
Again...Thank you

I hope this is right group...I can't find an IE7 group
IE7 has become pitifully slow.
A friend suggest Safari.
Safari is lightning fast.
I'm used to IE7 and would like to return to it if I could get it's
speed
up.
I was blaming my ISP...How wrong!
Any help appreciated!

Thank you but I wont try 923737.
While it removes all my customization I don’t see a way to restore it
without the tedious reentry at each website I visit.
I'll skip that.
9 Seconds will do when I use IE7
At times when it's unacceptable, I'll go elsewhere.

Again, thank you much. I learned a lot about add-ons.

PS. I identified ST as an MS product that is not essential for me

Another diagnostic step would be to uninstall IE7 via Add/Remove Programs
and see if the behavior persisted in IE6, but if you're satisfied with it
taking 6 seconds to open nytimes.com (which takes 3-4 seconds here), so be
it.

Keep in mind that many (if not most) IE Add-ons either don't work in Firefox
or you may not have the same ones installed.

PS. I identified ST as an MS product that is not essential for me
On a side note... I identified IE7 as a non-essential product... and all
superfluous toolbars, add-ons and plug-ins as well. (The NYT just
opened for me in under 3 seconds, DSL over telephone line, IE6).
