I don't think this has anything to do with an ISP.

This dialog appears when you make the following change:
1. Click on “Internet Options…” under the Tools menu
2. Select the Security tab
3. Click Custom Level…
4. Go to the User Authentication Logon section
5. Select "Prompt for user name and password"
6. OK all the way out
7. Close the browser window
8. Browse

I want to edit the list of User names in the drop down list.

Is there a reason you didn't include those specifics in your first post such
that I had to take a wild a** guess about what you were referring to?

Please state your IE version & full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; Vista
SP2).

What Security zone are you referring to in #2 below?

What dropdown list, where?

How many dialogs in IE do you know are captioned "Connect to..."?

Don't blame me if you can't read AND you assume you know it all, f***er.

IE 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.090206-1233
XP Pro (Windows 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.090206-1233 : Service Pack 2))

How do I edit the user name list on the "Connect to..." dialog (when prompted
for User name & Password)?
What happens when you simply enter in the values for username and
password that you *do* want to use?

You could flush the entire cache by using Internet Options -> Content
tab -> AutoComplete Settings button -> Delete autocomplete history.
Then start entering them anew when you next visit the web sites.

Sometimes the values get added and sometimes they do not - I haven't figured
out what makes them "stick". I'd like to remove the values that are no
longer valid and add the ones I use on a regular basis.

The drop down list is not an autocomplete list (I wish it were) -it's a
regular windows control.

I'll try flushing the cache and let you.

I saw your rude response to PA Bear. I also do not know where is this
"Connect to ..." dialog to which you allude but never explained the
exact steps to reproduce. It could be a dialog generated by IE, it
could be a popup or alert window opened by Javascript at the
unidentified web site, or it could be you use dial-up for Internet
access and the connectoid defined in the Network applet in Control Panel
is prompting for the login credentials to access your dial-up ISP.

I guess it is to remain secret WHERE you get this popup window or WHO is
generating it. Okie dokie.
