In the past when I went to a site that had a list of stories and then read
some the computer would change their color to indicate read and the next
visit would still show as read. Now it marks them as read but on my next
visit they are no longer marked.
Is this a function of the site, XP, or IE6 and how may I recover retaining
marking? Not true for other similar sites, they still remember, so suspect
site or cookie??
Thanks SG

Yes. Which site? Depending on the page's coding you may be able
to see the effect you want by using the Accessibility dialog to set
"Ignore colors specified on webpages".

Its on a secure page so would not want to forward it. Sorry

The Accessibility portion of IE 6 tools>advanced has only two choices and
neither is similar to "Ignore colors specified on webpages"
Thanks for input. I have found workarounds so please do not spend your time
on this problem.
Appreciatively

If you aren't using the English version of IE you could have
a different accelerator. I always assume English in these newsgroups
but realize that others posting here may be asking questions and trying
to use our answers with non-English versions.

The Accessibility button is at the bottom right of that General tab's dialog.

Got it, it was right where you said but I was too ignorant to find it.
No help though, will drop looking to fix and stick to workaround I am using.
Thanks again

It is not on IE6> tools>advanced.
It is on IE6>tools>Internet Options>Accessibility
(Grin. There is no Accessibility "tab" either. :)

Hi "shakey", try this:

click Tools, click Internet Options, click General (tab)
click "Accessibility" button (alt-E)
Checkmark: "Ignore colors specified on web pages"

Note that that button is in the "History" section of the General tab.
Clearing History also clears the record of what links have already been
clicked in pages, so they would no longer be marked. Look at the "Days to
keep pages in history" item, (on the General tab,) and increase it to retain
a record of visited pages until you read all the "stories".

FWIW. --Richard
