I know this sounds like a stupid question, but...Can someone tell me if
Microsoft Internet Explorer is different from Windows Internet Explorer. What
happened is that I just formatted my computer and redownloaded with XP/SP2.
IE comes with that download. After I downloaded I got a prompt for update for
IE and I clicked OK. It started downloading what looked like a complete new
browser. Now when I go to the Internet the browser says Windows Internet
Explorer. I am not sure, but I thought that before it said Microsoft Internet
Explorer. Thanks to anybody who can enlighten me on this.

They are essentially the same, though you are talking about two
different versions of Internet Explorer

IE6 says Microsoft Internet Explorer
IE7 says Windows Internet Explorer

You have updated from IE6 to IE7

That answers my question. I have IE7 now, so I must have had IE6 before.
Thanks so much for solving that Windows IE mistery for me.

Well here is what I suspect happened. I believe they are the same thing but
differnt versions of Internet Explorer. Now there is Internet Explorer 6 and
7 and Internet Explor 8 Beta which I do not reccomend you get. It may have
updated from Internet Explorer 6 to Internet Explorer 7. To see what version
you have click in IE help and click about. This will display what version
you have. One final note windows explorer explores your computer and
Explorer controls the mouse and your desktop. Let me know if this clarifies
the situation. If you do not like IE 7 you can go back to IE 6 but I prefer
7 because it has some new cool features and enhanced security.
Best Regards,
