"Not responding" - IE / Mozilla / firefox
***********************************************
Both not responding.

I am not technical.

I just purchased a new HP tx2510us tablet PC

CPU 2.1 Ghz
RAM 3Gig
Vista OS

Have comcast broadband internet
Max range Netgear wireless router

I was told this was fast enough to do basic work like surfing the net,
emails etc. even if i had 10 browser pages open all at once.

However I seem to be getting a "not responding" message on my
firefox / Mozilla page CONSTANTLY.
This is going on all the time.

The page keeps hanging for a long time.

Has anyone faced a similar situation and solved the issue ?

Is it my laptop ? or Vista ? or IE / Mozalla / Firefox ?
I was told 3G of RAM was sufficient. Is it the RAM ?

Is it the internet that is causing this ?

Please help me.

Thanks
Rita

Despite the large quantity of RAM in your system, you problem MAY be a
consequence of having such a large number of pages open at once. The
burden upon your system could vary depending on the content of the pages
and any scripts or embedded content in them like Java (Java is NOT the
same thing as JavaScript), Flash or ActiveX controls they contain. Even
if you do it as just an experiment/test, see if a lower quantity of
pages open (three or four) reduces or postpones the start of the "...not
responding" problems.

A sure sign of a heavy system load is nearly constant hard disk activity
as the system tries to juggle data and code segments between the actual
RAM and the page/swap file on the hard drive.

You may find more expertise about Firefox in the Google groups mirror of
mozilla.support.firefox
http://groups.google.com/group/mozilla.support.firefox/topics
(I noticed gmail as your email address)

You might want to report the Firefox version you are using in any
further inquiries, as there have been some recent updates.

You may also be able to find guidance there about configuring news
clients to access the Mozilla news servers directly.

I have similar situation. Just got new machine with Vista about a month ago.
Running Netgear WG111V2 wireless router. My wireless signal strength is 91%
(the router is in room next to me just on other side of the wall).

About weeks or 2 ago (could have been longer and I just didn't notice) I
started noticing, while browsing, that pages just wouldn't load. The little
blue circle just keeps spinning and the amount loaded bar gets about 1/2 way
and no further. I've tried repair on connection, unplugging and restarting
the router, and anything else I could think of. The only thing that seems to
fix it is to reboot Vista. Once I come back up I can browse fine for awhile
(sometimes maybe even an hour or so) then back to same inability to load
pages.

Strange thing is I can do other things that require the connection; i.e.,
open and process mail, DL files, update software online, etc. What I can't do
at these times is get pages to load without a reboot. If, after a lengthy
period, I bring the machine out of hibernation, it'll work again for awhile.

I tried Firefox yesterday thinking there's something strange happening
within IE but that didn't help. Firefox had the same problem after a bit.
Actually it was worse because Firefox left a process running, even after I
closed it, and I couldn't even get the process to end in Task Manager.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thx.

ps - not sure this has any relevance but, after I continued having the
inability to browse problem yesterday, I perused my event logs. I noticed a
couple warnings/errors something to do with NetBEUI & Master Browser or some
such. Not sure if that's useful or not but thought I'd throw it in here just
in case.
