My son had a virus a few months back on his computer and it knocked out IE6.
The virus is long gone and new anti virus software on his computer, but we
have never been able to get IE6 to work again. We have redownloaded,
reinstalled and Nothing. You click on it to start and nothing happens. So
he has been using Firefox.. but... We would like to monitor his activity on
the computer but the program we would like to get, MUST have IE6, it does not
recognize nor will it install with Firefox. Suggestions on how to get IE6
to work again?

Is this a contest to see how well we can solve a problem with as little
information as possible?
IE version and Service Pack level?
Windows version and Service Pack level?

Do a thorough check for malware, following all of the steps at one of these

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing programs like Messenger Plus,
whose ads for malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince
you that you owe it to the author. See also:

Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see
what else is being carried along. Don't install any extras you're not sure
of.

Hello,

Try this:
1.. Start > Control Panel > Internet Options > Advanced (tab) > UNCHECK
"Enable third-party browser extensions" > OK
2.. Run IE6 now and try reproducing the error.
3.. If it works now, one of your add-ons is causing the problem. Start
Internet Explorer as normal, Tools, Manage Add-ons, Enable or Disable
Add-ons.
4.. Disable all the add-ons.
5.. Go back to Internet Options (step 1) and enable (check) back the
third-party browser extensions.
6.. Restart your browser and enable the add-ons one by one till the
problem appears and you get the culprit.
