I am trying to download IE 6 SP1 to an XP machine so I can copy to CD and
reinstall on a Wndows 2000 machine. I used the published command
(/c:"ie6wzd.exe /d /s:""#E""") in the run box but after clicking that I
accept the service agreement, I get the message that I am not connected to
the internet, try again later. I am connected just like I am now sending in
this post. I disabled Zone Alarm thinking that might have something to do
with it but get the same message. There has been an alternate command posted
with only one set of quotation marks after the #E but that results in the
same failed internet connection message. Any suggestions on how to get a
full copy of IE 6 SP1 to reinstall on a Windows 2000 machine? Thanks.

Using dial-up? That's the problem. For some reason that procedure
and similarly Help and Support both think we should be connected to a
LAN and not using dial-up.

FWIW the way I did it way back when is change my Connections
options to Never dial... (implying I had a LAN connection.)
Then, when it couldn't find a DNS it started looking for a dial-up
connection and that's when I could dial and get connected. YMMV.

Actually provided you have ie6setup.exe in its own directory and you
want the download to go there you don't need the /S switch at all.
Then the minimum syntax is much simpler.
