Auto refreshing web page pops inactive window to the front

I'm having a strange problem. I work in network control center environment
where we use IE6 to access monitoring tools. One of these tools is a logging
webpage that allows controllers to log actions. This page is set to
auto-refresh every 30 seconds. In most cases this refreshing happens with no
problems, but on a few (identical boxes, software setup, etc.) , when the
page auto-refreshes, it causes that instance of IE6 to pop to the front and
make it the active window. It only happens if the window is open in the
background, not if the window is minimized. I have scoured the settings but
cannot find anything that is causing this. Do you have any ideas?

It depends on the implementation of the refresh.
E.g. Meta Refresh or javascript. I have seen the latter
even pull up a minimized window but that was in either late IE5
or very early IE6 and the test case doesn't exist any more
(Google Groups thread trees.)

You could try using Tweakui for its modifications to prevent
focus stealing.

Thanks for the reply!! I will check with the programmer; I believe he used
Oracle's APEX database software to access the database, I'm not sure what he
used to program the page itself. I will have to check. Again, thanks for
pointing me in a direction.

Hello,

Just to follow up, he used the meta http-equiv tag in the header to refresh
the page. Still confused... My network doesn't have the tweakui
application, so I'll have to check at home.
