When i normally clicked on an email link in IE6 website it took me to a new
Hotmail page directly, this has stopped working. Now when i click on i get a
message saying (unable to complete this request, please report this problem
to microsoft.) I have sent this but i have heard nothing. Any ideas as to
what could cause this problem please?

Windows version?

Are you referring to a MailTo link on a webpage?

Using XP home with SP2. These things used to work but i do not know when
they stopped.

The "bad" link to this thread in web-based forums has nothing to do with
your problem.

Start | Settings | Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs | Set Program Access
and Defaults | Email: Is Hotmail an option and selected here?

IE Tools | Internet Options | Programs | E-mail: Is Hotmail an option and
selected here?

Last but not least: Is MS Outlook or MS Office also installed and did you
just install an Outlook Update (e.g., Junk Mail Filter)?

I have always had Hotmail selected in IE/internet options and set programme
defaults.
I have never used Outlook and do not have Office installed. Please tell me
what to look for in Outlook programme so that i can remove it. Not aware of
any updates going in as i would have deselected any if i saw them. I install
updates manually.
Incidentally your link to this topic worked OK.

I can't tell if you've answered my first two questions or not, Gilera.

If MS Office or MS Outlook isn't listed in Add/Remove Programs, Outlook
isn't installed so you would not have installed an Outlook Update.

[Crossposted to Internet Mail newsgroup]

MS Outlook is not involved here in anyway. Forget I mentioned it.

My current email is selected in add/remove programmes access/custom.
Is (Windows Live) Hotmail an option here and is it selected?
