Have just noticed that all items which I had placed on the LINKS line on I
Explorer have disappeared. The only change to my PC was to install Norton
2009 on April 20th.. replacing an old Norton 2004. I also used the Norton
Removal tool as part of the process.

Can someone enlighten me if there is a way to bring the LINK items back, or
should I install IE 8 ? Feel comfortable with IE 6 and hesitate to have to
relearn a new program.I am 79 years old , and some of my brain cells are
gone!!! Will appreciate some feedback. June.

Is the symptom just that there are fewer buttons?
E.g. if you look at the Links directory via the Favorites menu
(for example, press Alt-a, Links, CursorRight )
are the rest of the entries you want to see still there?
If so, it would be just a case of the Links bar shrinking.
In fact, you could probably also see your Favorites in it
by clicking on the >> if there is still enough room for that.

IE6 toolbar layout is a lot more flexible than later versions.
That can be a blessing to those who understand how it works
or a nuisance to those who don't. The usual advice to IE6 users
when missing toolbars are involved is to uncheck the lot and
then reactivate them one at a time to see where they are hiding
and how big they are.

Nothing on the LINK line.....no buttons!
Went to FAVOURITES.....links are empty there as well. Also unlocked tool bar
and moved everything around just in case items were hidden. I have answered
PA Bear's questions in the following message as well. Tx for help....at this
stage will probably just begin a new list of links. I suspect that when I
installed Norton 2009 it messed up!!! June

You have not answered all of my questions.

Repost: When (date) did your NAV 2004 subscription expire?

What Norton 2004 application was installed (e.g., Norton AntiVirus; Norton
Internet Security)? What Norton 2009 application did you install (e.g.,
Norton AntiVirus 2009; Norton Internet Security; Norton 360)?

That's a bit ambiguous. Are you now saying that Favorites is completely empty?
IOW the lack of Links buttons was an inadequate symptom description?
In that case a likely possibility would be that your Favorites directory
got moved somewhere and then a new (empty) one got created in its place.
For that case you should search your entire system, especially everywhere
on that drive, to see if your Favorites can be found that way. E.g. do a
search for *.URL in all directories starting from the root. Note that
dragging a directory within a drive has the unfortunate default of *moving*
it. So this can happen fairly easily if "click" on the Favorites folder icon
with a heavy hand. ; )

Do some more diagnosis before you start believing your hypotheses. ; )

(?) 2009?

Have answered Robert's message above in response to "MISSING LINK"......No
items in LINKS line or in Favourites Link.

Still had 6 days left of old Norton 2004 subscription when I installed the
new Norton 2009 on April 17/09....had a little difficulty with errors when
installing even though I disabled everything but forgot about the Windowa
Firewall....will chalk it all up to a learning experience. Tx for your
help....I have learned much from reading your letters in answer to other
problems. June.

Did you upgrade from Norton 2004 to Norton 2009 or did you uninstall Norton
2004, run the Norton Removal Tool, and then install Norton 2009?

Does "Norton 2004" = Norton AntiVirus, Norton System Works, or Norton
Internet Security?

Does "Norton 2009" = Norton AntiVirus, Norton Internet Security, or Norton
360?
