Today for the past several hours I've been unable to login to my Yahoo email
account. Don't ever remember having this problem and wonder if others are
having the same problem or if I am overlooking some simple corrective action.

After entering the ID and password, this is the reason given on the Yahoo
sign-in page:

"The browser you're using refuses to sign in. (cookies rejected)"

I've turned off pop-up blockers and www.yahoo.com is in my Pop-up Blocker
Settings - Allowed sites. Have disabled my antivirus program and still get
the same message that the browser refuses to sign in becasue cookies
rejected. All Windows updates are current.

Any help appreciated.

Hi,
1. From Internet Options> Privacy, try a setting of "Low" or "Accept all" or
list www.yahoo.com as an "always accept" site.

2. Make sure that the computer's date, time and time zone are correct.

3. Clear all cookies or find and delete all cookies from yahoo.

4. Take a close look at any third-party security/privacy programs that are
running. See if a cookie manager/cookie blocker/privacy feature has been
turned on. CCleaner installed? Disable its cookie manager.

Hope this helps,
Don

You may have to modify third party cookie acceptance. In my experience,
Yahoo! is a very difficult site to access if you are trying to control TPC.
They want you to accept *all* cookies, for *all* domains of *all* links on
their web pages. Bar none.

Thanks to you all for the suggestions. I'm back to normal and able to log-in
to Yahoo as before. Am not sure what change I might have made that brought
about the correction. Nothing seemed to be out of order... Just turned off
the computer overnight, and voila, the malady is gone.

Thanks again.

Well here is one simple thing to try. You may have a corrupted file in your
IE browser cache so we need to clean it out. Go to tool, internet options.
There you will see options to delete files and cookies and clear history.
Delete everything then close IE. Next go to start, all programs, accessories,
system tools, disc cleanup. Select your C drive and when it lists the box
check everything to clean and proceed with ok to delete or clean the files.
Now log onto yahoo and you will need to re enter your user name and password
and see if you can get on. Let me know if this worked.
Best Regards,

The problem was probably caused by Yahoo adding regular AT&T Email users to a
common system. Both are SBC. Just a temporary overload.

"Both" what? Yahoo! is Yahoo! SBC is now AT&T. Yahoo! != AT&T (or SBC).

This six year old story from CNET might help you.
http://news.cnet.com/2100-1038_3-5113403.html
The story is closer to five years old than six (December, 2003 would be five
years, one month ago).

And it helps me not at all. SBC is not even traded on the stock market any
more. Hasn't been since they bought AT&T, and then changed their name. AT&T
is traded as, "T". Yahoo! is traded as a separate entity, "YHOO".

SBC made a co-branding deal with Yahoo! in 2002. It is nothing more than a
"Deal with the Devil"; and Yahoo! has reduced the "extra" services that they
offered, compared with what SBC (now AT&T) customer were offered in 2002.

SBC did not force migration upon all of their customers; and, currently,
there are a significant number of AT&T "legacy" customers who can't use the
Yahoo! servers, 'pop.att.yahoo.com', and 'smtp.att.yahoo.com'. They are
still using the old, legacy servers that they were using five years ago.

If you were to research the history of AT&T, you would come to understand:
AT&T is dead. It was severely crippled in 1984, and finished off when SBC
bought it in 2005. The AT&T you see today is just SBC in new livery.
