I am running IE6 I have tried many times to install IE7 but it fails.
i had another bash at installing IE7 and i downloaded it and saved it to my
desktop this time. It downloaded and saved to the desktop fine. then i ran
the install it went through things like

Downloading updates for Internet Explorer 7
Running Microsoft Malicious Software Removal tool
I missed one then something about core updates
Installing Windows Internet Explorer Critical Upgrades

Then it said
Setup was unable to install the latest updates. After you restart your
computer, open Internet Explorer, click the tools button, and click Windows
updates.

When i opened Internet Explorer the page popped up but it did not have any
buttons on it at all it did have the continuous blue line at the top with the
minimise maximise and exit buttons on it, and below that it had the search
boxes for IE . I tried to click on to see if i could find the missing buttons
but again as soon as i clicked the page it disapeared and kept doing this
every time. I switched off the firewall shouted at the wife and had already
activated windows automatic updates and stuff. tried to install in safe mode
to.
So I tried to reinstall it but after the install the same thing happened
again (No Buttons) so i did it again but this time after it said about the
setup problem another error box popped up and that said.

Dr Watson Postmortem De!!!!!! has encountered a problem and needs to close
we are sorry for any inconvienience.

Then i decided to do a system restore to the last day would not restore to
the last day either so i tried the day b4 that same thing so after fiddling
with my pc for 6 hours i am back to where i was last night IE6. Turns out
all i hade to do was uninstall it from add remove programs not system
restore. I hope i am not in the wrong place as i am not a techie or very
techie minded but i am an elderly man frustrated by not being able to get
IE7. I have tried other techie forums and all i get there is its your browser
get Firefox but i dont want firefox :-( i have been quite happy with IE for
many years now.

It's best never to use System Restore to undo an installation! Always use
Add/Remove Programs first.
Then it said Setup was unable to install the latest updates.
Best get that issue sorted first, Balloo.

By any chance have you just reinstalled or upgraded to WinXP?

Sorry about the last reply i pressed the post button thinking it would open a
box for reply. This may sound thick too you people in the know but i cant
uninstall it from add remove programs because its not there??. There is an
Internet explorer in Add/Remove Windows Components its checked but that will
not uninstall there too it says Internet Explorer check box to uninstall its
not shaded and at the very far right of that box/pic it says 0.0MB. I know
its me but i am afraid i am going to be left out in the cold when IE6 stops
and the people on IE7 have moved to IE8 or maybe IE22 b4 i can install IE7 lol
