Discussion:
Searching for Google; address bar blank
(too old to reply)

Over recent months, at each start up, IE7 has taken to showing
"Searching" in what eventually shows "Goggle" and nothing in the
address bar until then (should be "about: blank"). If I forget this
new problem and start typing into Google, the typing ends up in the
address bar even though the cursor starts off in the
what-will-be-Google bar. Any ideas?

1. Wait until IE fully loads before typing in Address Bar;

2. Disable searching from the Address Bar; and/or

3. Remove any unnecessary toolbars and Add-ons: They all must load in a new
IE window OR tab before it becomes fully functional.

Dear PA,

Tried to find this in the internetexploere.general but with no
success, so I'm back here

I can wait till it finished faffing around, but don't want to waste
the time. I've never had to do it before in the last 15 years or so.

I'm waiting to type into the Google bar, not the Address bar - it is
Google that displays Searching.. If you put the cursor into here, it
moves over to the address bar on its own once it has settled down.

I don't know how to disable searching form the Address Bar, but since
this isn't where Searching is displayed, is this what I should be
doing.

I can't tell what Add-ons are needed, as most of the names are
meaningless to me.

Tom
