Discussion:
IE 7 not able to open Internet Site (Hotmail Inbox)
(too old to reply)

For over a week now I've been getting the following error message:

"INternet Explorer can not open the Internet site
http://lbl148wblu148.mail.live.com/mail/InBoxLight.aspx?n=1845724582.
Operation aborted". When I click ok, it get the IE error page. The numbers
after the equal sign changes every time I get the message. I can sign into
hotmail with no problem, it is while the items are downloading in the hotmail
inbox that I get the error message. Down in the lower left corner where it
says "waiting for site...." or "downloading..." I'll get those message and
then it stops and I get the operation aborted message. It appears to me that
the ad on the right side of the site is what is causing the problem, because
everything is there, except the ad.

I optimized my browser, down loaded new IE 7 Upgrades, nothing has worked.
Windows Live help referred me to here. What do I have to do to get this
fixed? It has been over a week now.

I have IE version 7.0.5730.13, using Windows XP Ver. 5.1.

ok, now I feel as though I'm just getting the run around. I went to Windows
Live Help first, they said to go to Microsoft Help and Support. I went there
and posted my problem. They said come here. I come here and post my problem
and you say go to windows live help, which is where I started. So basically
the message is, no one knows the answer and you're all just passing the buck
to the next person. I'm glad I'm not paying for any of this. I can always
switch and use another email service. It's just I've been with hotmail 8
years, this is the first time I've ever had an issue. I'm very disappointed
with the lack of help.

Don't despair Cats'.

The people here are very helpful and friendly and not part of the official
'Help +Support'.

It is not always easy to find the right group to put a question to, but the
response is usually very good, and in Robear 'PA Bear', you have found
someone who certainly will help you if he can.

Good luck,

Yes, I looked at both of those sites, and posted my problem, with them first
before following their suggestion to go to Microsoft help. No one was giving
me any sugguestions about what to do, just telling me to go somewhere else
for help, they were telling me it was an IE error. Other people replied to
my post that they were having the same problem. I have bugged them enough
about my issue that they have finally escalated it, so I'm now working with
one person. Though he still thinks I can't open specific emails. I think
the issue is with ads in the hotmail inbox not downloading properly or
causing some kind of error. If the ad loads I can get into my inbox, if the
ad doesn't load, I can't. And I have told them this, but they don't seem to
understand.

I did the clean boot and still got the message. I also turned off firewall &
antivirus programs, and still got the error message. I wasn't familiar with
Safe Mode. I only kept the firewall & antivirus off long enough to see if I
got the error message. The guy I'm dealing with has just had me do a Fiddler
capture, which I have sent to him. It's definitely a hotmail issue. I'm not
having any problems with IE on any other website.
