I installed IE8 on an XP Pro SP3 machine.
Q: How do I completely remove/uninstall IE8 and reinstalleither IE6 or IE7
in lieu of IE8?

Removal information
This section describes how to remove Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1.
Windows XP SP2 or Windows Server 2003
1. In Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs.
2. Click Windows Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1, and then click Remove. The
computer will revert to one of the earlier versions of Internet Explorer
depending on your scenario, as described here:
. Internet Explorer 6 + previously installed Internet Explorer 6 security
updates.
. Internet Explorer 7 + previously installed Internet Explorer 7 security
updates.

Read the Release Notes for IE8 Beta 1. IE8 Beta 1 is *not* supported in
WinXP SP3 RC2.
